Otter Creek Organic Farm

Otter Creek Organic Farm

Gary and Rosie Zimmer began farming in the 1970s, raising their children on the land and instilling in them an interest in agriculture and conservation. In 1994, Gary, Rosie and their son Nick bought Otter Creek Farm, originally a crop farm, and expanded into organic dairy farming. Nick Zimmer and three other families now run Otter Creek Organic Farm, an operation that includes 250 cows, pasture-raised beef and hogs and pasture raised poultry.

An article about our butcher- Black Earth Meats

"A hamburger from Black Earth Meats and a hamburger from a large supplier like Cargill may look the same, and they may taste similarly, but when you realize what each is actually made of there’s simply no comparison."

"I recently asked Bartlett Durand, the Farm Administrator for Black Earth Meats, how many animals end up in one package of their ground beef. His answer was simple: “On average, each one pound package contains the grind made from the solid meat of ONE animal.”
